Buried with Christ. Raised to new life.

Baptism

What We Believe About Baptism

We believe baptism is a believer’s first step of obedience and a sacred act that identifies us with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through baptism, we publicly declare our faith and our new life in Him, and we receive the promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Baptism and New Life in Christ

Romans 6:4 says,
“Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life.”

Baptism and the Gift of the Holy Spirit

Acts 2:37–38 says,
“Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’ Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”
